It is located in Alba County at 55 km from Alba Iulia. The monastery is a “home” for orphaned children, elderly sufferers and even mothers who need help.
The monastery was built in 1996 in the shape of a fortress with the entrance bell and the church in the center. The church preserves the Romanian style with porch, pronaos, naos and altar.
My first impressions walking in was that it’s like a piece of heaven. The first things you see are flowers everywhere and silent atmosphere. It’s a good place to just sit on a bench and meditate, and you can see the nuns around there is a unique feeling.
One of the Orthodox tradition is to light candles for the persons you lost (“Morti”) and the persons close to you (“Vii”), like you family and friends and say a prayer for them.
Also around the area, there is a very beautiful traditional house.
I highly recommend having a stop at this Monastery on the way to Alba Iulia.
